Amazing art for grooming oneself is self-learning precisely. Self-learning doesn’t only help us gain knowledge, it naturally increases a person’s curiosity, ability to solve problems, self-control, and sense of responsibility. Moreover, self-learning totally depends on the student rather than his/her teachers or parent.

Rather than being the first in class by continuous training and tutoring, having an open mind and wide-ranged knowledge is often seen among student who practices the art of self-study. There are a lot of benefits that one gains by self-learning, if you are a person practicing it, then you are increasing your concentration levels tremendously.

Benefits of self-learning:

1. Increases concentration

In this world full of distractions, a student who is willing to learn on his own master’s concentration. Only when he/she is determined and concentrates on learning can they complete their tasks successfully. Since it is a digital era, just trying to read or write has become a tough task, within the time one completes homework or assignment the number of times his/her mind wanders from phone to TV is countless.

2. Broadmindedness

Self-learning can make a person broad-minded allowing them to accept various topics with clear considerations and research of their own. They also tend to have their own opinions on topics starting from a young age. Instead of being narrow-minded, they learn to analyze things and think from different perspectives.

3. Knowledge thirsty

Quenching one’s thirst is very important be it water or knowledge. When it comes to water, we drink it to quench our thirst but in the case of knowledge only with means of reading can one quench their thirst Is it enough to read once or twice a week? It must be a continuous habit for it to satisfy our thirst for knowledge, for doing so, the best approach is self-learning or we can even say those who gain knowledge themselves without any external interference are knowledge thirsty,

4. Problem-solving ability

Learning continuously and being broadminded helps a person solve their problems in real-life and subjects easily. Being a programmer demands one to be a self-learner than a curriculum follower. By just following a book blindly one can only become a book worm, not a problem solver. Naturally, those who seek knowledge by themselves are more competitive and think logically to solve problems.

5. Curiosity

We have all heard about, “Curiosity kills the cat”, well it is not the kind of curiosity that involves others' affairs but the kind of curiosity that enriches one’s knowledge. While reading a novel, we try to find its meaning immediately if we come across an unknown word. Those who read out of force aim to finish the novel, while those who read for themselves try to find the meaning of each unknown word and are curious enough to know about the author, the writing style, the message conveyed in the novel.

The benefits of self-learning can be stacked one upon the other continuously. Based on the current situation we are in; self-learners hold the biggest advantage nobody holds. Fruits of these pandemic days will be clearly visible once this comes to an end. Being in the home having access to the internet, book, and online classes the opinion of people are divided. During these days one can determine their future brilliantly or spoil it thoroughly. Self-learners utilize this opportunity to study, set up a routine for a healthy life, read to pass time, keep themselves updated on world affairs, covid counts, new technologies, and stabilize their studies and career. Another set of people spend their time gaming, sleeping, eating, immersed in television. Be it in the past, present or the future self-learning is a skill to be mastered by everyone, while only a definite amount of people succeed in it while others give in to distraction and learn only by external force in any field.
